 Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter (/bi'anseI/ (listen) bee-ON-say; born on September 4, 1981) is an American artist, singer and actress. Beyonce's innovative style and voice have earned her the title of one of the most popular female artist of the 21st century according to NPR. The success of her music has led to her becoming an iconic figure in the music industry and earned her the title "Queen Bey".Beyonce performed in various contests for dancing and singing as a child. She became famous in the mid 1990s as an artist in the R&B girl group Destiny's Child, one of the top-selling girl groups ever. Following a break her debut album Dangerously in Love (2003) that included the number one US Billboard Hot 100 singles "Crazy in Love", as well as "Baby Boy", was released. The second album by Beyonce B'Day (which included two singles "Irreplaceable", as well as "Beautiful Liar") was released in 2006 after Destiny's Child disbanded. Beyonce appeared in a number of films that included The Pink Panther (2006) and Dreamgirls (2006). Obsessed (2008) was also her first solo album.
