Christina Renee Hendricks (born May 3, 1975) is an American actress and former model. With a long and successful experience on stage and screen, she has received various awards, including six Primetime Emmy Award nominations, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two Critics' Choice Awards for Best Supporting actress in an Drama Series. Her character of Joan Harris on the AMC drama series Mad Men is her most well-known. The show was named the "sexiest woman in America" by Esquire magazine in the year 2010. She was born to an American mother in Knoxville, Tennessee and an English father in Twin Falls, Idaho. There she was active in theater and was also involved in community theater. After her Seventeen cover contest entry she relocated to New York City to pursue a career in modeling. After modeling internationally for more than a decade, she moved into acting.
