George Strait

 George Harvey Strait Sr. (born May 18, 1952) is an American country music artist as well as songwriter, actor and music producer. Strait is known as the "King of Country" and is considered one of the most popular and influential recording musicians of all time.In the 1980s Strait was a prominent and pioneering artist in the neotraditional country movement, famed for his simple look and a distinctly roots-oriented sound in a time when the Nashville music industry was dominated by crossover country acts.Strait's popularity began with his debut single "Unwound" was a hit in 1981, which signaled the rise of the neotraditional movement. In the 1980s, seven of his albums made it to the top of the charts of country music. In the year 2000, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and won his first Grammy award for the album Troubadour. Strait was named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989 1993, 1990 and 2013 as well as ACM Entertainer of the Year in both 1990 and 2014. Strait has been nominated for many more CMA as well as ACM Awards and has earned more wins in each category than any other artist.
