George Strait

 George Harvey Strait Sr. was born May 18, 1952. He is an American musician, singer and actor. Strait is popularly referred to as the "King of Country" and is considered to be one of the most influential and popular music artists of all time.In the 1980s, he was a prominent and influential figure in the neotraditional style of country and was renowned for his straightforward look and a distinctly roots-oriented sound during a time in which the Nashville music industry was dominated by pop country crossover acts.Strait's popularity began when his first single "Unwound" was a smash in 1981, signalling the rise of the neotraditional music movement. The 1980s saw seven albums from Strait topped the charts for country music. In the year 2000, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame and was awarded his first Grammy award for his album Troubadour. Strait was named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989, and 2013.
