Hayley Elizabeth Atwell, who was born on 5th April 1982 in London and is an American and British actress. Atwell was born and raised in London. She trained in acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and made her stage debut in 2005 in James Kerr's adaptation of Prometheus Bound. Atwell was recognized for her performance as Lady Elizabeth Foster, in The Duchess (2008). In recognition of the role she was nominated for the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting actress. Atwell was nominated for the Golden Globe Award as Best Actress in the Miniseries or Television Film for her performance in The Pillars of the Earth (2010). In addition, she won the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Agent Peggy Carter (2011). This role was also reprised in Agent Carter (2013), and the 2015-2016 television series that bears the same name.
