Sir Roderick David Stewart CBE (born 10 January 1945) is a British pop and rock musician and songwriter. Stewart was born in London and is English and Scottish. With his distinctive , raspy voice, Stewart is among the greatest-selling artist ever, having sold over 250 million albums worldwide. Stewart has had ten number-one albums as well as 31 top 10 singles in the UK and six of them reached number one.Stewart has had 16 top ten hits in the US and four of them reached top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. He was knighted in the 2016 Birthday Honours for services to music and charity.Stewart's career in music began in 1962 when he took up busking with the harmonica. He was a member of The Dimensions in 1963 as an harmonica player and vocalist. In 1964, Stewart joined Long John Baldry and the All Stars before moving to the Jeff Beck Group in 1967. He was a member of Faces in 1969, and then released his debut album. The first two albums of Stewart featured the mixture of R&B, folk, soul and folk music. [5][6] His breakthrough album, 1971's Every Picture tells a Story was his third album, and it was a top chart hit in the UK.
