Virginia Gayle Madsen, born September 11, 1961 is an American actress. She made her film debut in Class (1983), which was shot in her home city of Chicago. David Lynch, the director of science fiction film Dune (1984) has made her the Princess Irulan following her move to Los Angeles. Madsen was then featured in a series of successful teenage films, such as Electric Dreams (1984), Modern Girls (1986), and Fire with Fire (1986).Madsen received more recognition for her lead role in the film as Helen Lyle in the horror film Candyman (1992). Madsen won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Alexander Payne’s comedy-drama Sideways (2004).
