William Ray Norwood Jr. (born January 17, 1981), known professionally as Ray J, is an American actor, performer and TV host. He was born in McComb, Mississippi and raised in Carson. He is the younger brother of actress Brandy Norwood and is also the first cousin of Snoop Dogg. In January 2017, he appeared in the nineteenth season of the UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother.William Ray Norwood Jr. was born in McComb, Mississippi to Willie Norwood and Sonja Bates-Norwood. His elder sister Brandy is a multi-platinum recording artist. He moved from McComb, Mississippi, to Los Angeles, California with his family early in his life. In 1989, he started appearing in television commercials for various organizations. At the age of eight, Norwood started auditioning for commercials on television. He played the role of a foster child in The Sinbad Show from 1993 until 1994. This time in his life would define his acting career. Bradley Torreano, AllMusic says that Norwood's affable charisma and boyish appearance attracted Brandy's producers to Brandy’s television show, Moesha. He was assigned the role of Dorian "D" Money on UPN from 1999 until 2001.
